If your child is just wanting to learn to skate, skating funamentals are the basis of our learn to play program. They just get the bonus of all the extra padding :-).
Learn to Play teaches the fundamentals of skating and basic stick handling.
Learn to play starts the first week of November and goes until the end of February. It is free for first year players (except for the mandatory USA Hockey registration which is $25 if their birth year is 2016 and younger, 2015-2014 is $60, 2013-2010 is $71). Equipment is provided by the association at the Learn to Play level. All we ask is for a $100 deposit check that is only cashed if you don’t return the equipment at the end of the season.
Learn to play is pretty flexible scheduling wise. It is held between 2 different rinks.
Reedsburg - Saturdays 8-9 am
Dells/Delton - Tuesdays usually 6-7 pm
Times may change slightly from stated above, but this is the general set up. Reedsburg is pretty consistent but there are times at Dells/ Delton that there won’t be practice due to rink availability (usually high school games the same night) or it may be a different night or held at the Reedsburg rink instead.
You can attend as many or as little of the practices you want, dependent on what works with your schedule/location.
When registering, you will be redirected to the USA hockey webpage. You need to register for a USA hockey number (see above for pricing, you will need a credit card). Once that is complete, make sure to go back to the www.rwdhockey.com page and register through the site. You will need to create a login for Sports Engine if you don’t have one first. You will need to enter your USA hockey number to register on the RWD webpage (note: there can be a 5 min delay before Sports Engine recognizes the number).
RWD Youth Hockey provides boys and girls in the Lake Delton/Wisconsin Dells, Reedsburg, Mauston, and surrounding communities the opportunity to participate in the sport of ice hockey.
